Analyte: Cholesteryl Ester Transfer Protein- Activity
Specimen Type: EDTA Plasma, Citrate Plasma, Serum
Optimum Volume: 1.0 mL
|12 days||2 months||3.5 years|
Reporting units: pmol/mL/min
Biological or Clinical Significance:
Plasma cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) facilitates the transfer of cholesteryl ester (CE) from high density lipoprotein (HDL) to apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins. Since CETP regulates the plasma levels of HDL cholesterol and the size of HDL particles, CETP is considered to be a key protein in reverse cholesterol transport, a protective system against atherosclerosis.
Principle of Test Method:
CETP activity assay employs a fluorometric method to determine the CETP transfer activity.
