Reporting units: pg/mL

Method: Chemiluminescence

Biological or Clinical Significance:

Angiopoietin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ANGPT2 gene.  It belongs to the angiopoietin protein family (angiopoietin-1, -2, -3, and -4) which plays an important role in the development and maintenance of blood vessels and the lymphatic system. ANG-2 is composed of an alpha-helix-rich “coiled coil” N-terminal domain and fibrinogen-like C-terminal domain.  The angiopoietins serve as ligands for the receptor tyrosine kinases Tie 1 and Tie 2.

Principle of Test Method:

The Ang-2 assay is a chemiluminescent immunoassay.  Assay Range: 5.5 - 2,800  pg/mL
