VEGF-C (Vasclular Endothelial Growth Factor-C)

Analyte: Vasclular Endothelial Growth Factor-C

Specimen Type: Serum

Optimum Volume: 0.4 mL

2-8°C -20°C -70°C
3 days 3 months 3 months

Reporting units: pg/mL

Method: Chemiluminescence

Biological or Clinical Significance:

Vascular endothelial growth factor C is a member of the VEGF/PDGF family of structurally related proteins, is a potent angiogenic cytokine. VEGF-C is expressed in various tissues, but is not produced in peripheral blood lymphocytes. It forms cell surfaced-associated non-covalent disulfide linked homodimers. It binds and activates VEGFR-2 (KDR/FLK1) and VEGFR-3 (FLT4) receptors.  Both VEGF-C and VEGF-D are over-expressed in certain cancers, and the resulting elevated levels of VEGF-C or VEGF-D tend to correlate with increased lymphatic metastasis.

Principle of Test Method:

The VEGF-C assay is a chemiluminescent immunoassay. Detection range 15.6 - 16000  MRD 1:2
