PlGF (Placental Growth Factor)

Analyte: Placental Growth Factor

Specimen Type: Serum

Optimum Volume: 0.4 mL

2-8°C -20°C -70°C
Unstable 3 months 3 months

Reporting units: pg/mL

Method: Chemiluminescence

Biological or Clinical Significance:

PlGF (Placental Growth Factor) is a member of the VEGF family of growth factor that share a conserved pattern of eight cysteines.PlGF binds and signals through VEGF R1/Flt-1 but not VEGF R2/Flk-1/KDR, while VEGF binds both but signals only through the angiogenic receptor, VEGF R2. PlGF and VEGF therefore compete for binding to VEGF R1. High PlGF inhibits VEGF/VEGF R1 binding and promotes VEGF/VEGF R2 mediated angiogenesis . It plays important roles in angiogenesis, vasculogenesis and lymphangiogenesis.

Principle of Test Method:

The PIGF assay is a chemiluminescent immunoassay.
